THEY STILL DON’T GET IT

Wayne D. Leeper

I am continually amazed at the news media and the liberal left.  The latest explanation being put forth by the likes of Teddy Kennedy, Nancy Pelosi, and Alan Colmes as to why the Democrats in general and John Kerry in particular were soundly defeated in the elections this past November is, “We did not do a good job of getting our message out.”

On the contrary, the Democrats and their supporters in the mainstream media, Hollywood , and the Eastern Establishment did an excellent job of getting their message out.  The American people heard the message loud and clear and understood every word of it.  That is why over sixty-one million ordinary, every-day Americans who occupy the heartland of America voted overwhelmingly for George W. Bush.

Now we hear talk from the Democratic pundits that they are going to “have to talk more about moral and family values.”  In making this statement they define their biggest problem which is a basic lack of understanding of the American people.  Moral and family values are not something to be talked about, but something to be lived.

Mr. and Mrs. America, the common folk; those who go about the job of making the American dream a reality, don’t talk about values as abstract concepts they incorporate them as a way of life.  It is as natural as breathing in and breathing out.  It is something that is done automatically without the necessity of thinking it out in advance.  For them life is composed of supporting and carrying  for  their families, raising their kids, working for a living and worshiping their God.  This is what moral and family values are all about.

When living moral and family values, the family is the center of ones universe.   Dad doesn’t go to work to further his career path, stroke his self esteem or reach the top of the corporate ladder.  He goes to work to support his family and the highlight of his day is when the kids run out to meet him when he returns in the evening.  He is a daddy first, foremost and always.  He is the example his sons look to as the learn how to be husbands and fathers in the years to come.

Mom provides a home that is filled with love and laughter, and the smell of cookies baking; not stuff, business appointment schedules and social calendars.  She understands the value of teachable moments that come along all too seldom but which must be captured as they flee past.  She builds memories on rainy days that will last her children a lifetime.  She makes her home a haven from the storms of life; a place where her family can retreat for rest, come together for strength and then go forth with confidence.  No matter what the world hands out, her home is like the comfort of a warm fireplace on a cold winter’s night and an old pair of slippers.

The home is where the children learn to read, draw pictures of their concept of the world in which they live and learn to pray to the God who created them.  Values of honesty, respect, love and consideration of and for others flow forth from hearts and minds that have been nurtured from birth.  It is about school plays and watching your overweight ballerina making a fool of herself in leotards then giving her a hug and telling her how proud you are of her.  It is about a thousand moments and a thousand memories that build a lifetime.  It is about holding hands, taking long walks together, and talking with each other.

Most of all, it is about recognizing the God who created us and all the blessings with which he has surrounded us.  It is about acknowledging Him in every aspect of our life.  It is about understanding that, “All men are created equal, endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights.”  It is about loving our homeland, cherishing our history and our traditions.  It is about the sons and draughts of America going for the sake of freedom for mankind who   never come home.  It is about America, all that it has been and all that it can be.

It is about the America conceived in the minds of our founders, nurtured through over two hundred years with hopes, dreams and sacrifice, protected by our Creator, and the desire to leave a world to our children that is just a little bit better than the one left to us.  It is what men and women have suffered toil, tears and sacrifice just to become a part of , that they might pass that great dream of opportunity on to their children.

It is our country, our lives, our heritage and our children, and no collection of perverts, homosexuals, atheist, abortionist, judicial hacks, sleazy politicians and the other social misfits which increasingly make up a large part of the liberal left are going to be allowed to take it away from us.  This is what they don’t understand and this is why as the Democratic Party moves further and further to the left they are loosing more and more elections.

We the People have had enough of this political correctness nonsense of denying the existence of God, and trying the ban the teachings of the strengths and heritage of  America in our public schools and our public Square.  It is why George Bush is President of the United States and Al Gore and John Kerry are has-been, also-ran politicians, and always will be.  It is why the good people of America feel that our country is heading in the wrong direction and why we are going to insist on federal judges who understand what America is all about and will step forth to reverse the downhill slide that began with the election of Bill Clinton.

Arlen Specter and Tom Daschle have learned their lessons.  Now Teddy Kennedy, Hillary Clinton and Nancy Pelosi had better start paying attention.  So should be those Democratic Senators from red states who are coming up for reelection in two years.

Family and moral values are about America and the God who guided the framers of our republic, protected us through our national infancy and has continually blessed us while showing us, through His word, how to become the envy of the world.

Yes, moral and family values are the bedrock on which this nation has been built into the greatest nation in the history of the world and it is by preserving these values that we will leave our greatest legacy to our children.
