RIGHT DIRECTION - WRONG DIRECTION POLLS

THE MISSING QUESTIONS

Wayne D. Leeper

Many of the political pundits, particular those of a liberal persuasion, like to point to the current “Right Direction — Wrong Direction” polls and claim that the “Direction of the Country” numbers show that people are displeased the President

The problem with this viewpoint is the fact that the pollsters failed to ask two important follow-up questions, or if they did, they did not choose to report the results.

The first and most obvious question is, “Exactly in what area do you feel that the country is going in the wrong direction?”  The second question would be, ”Who do you blame for the country going in the wrong direction?”  I have posed these two questions to a number of people and have almost always received the same answers.

Our nation is going in the wrong direction morally. As shown above, the voters are more positive than negative in every other measured area.  The fact of the matter is that the vast majority of Americans strongly object to the removal of God from the public square, the aborting of forty-three million unborn children, and the gay agenda that is being forced on the people.

Our nation was founded by men and women with strong religious convictions.  The Bible was a text book and all of our earliest schools.  Every single man who has ever served as president of this nation has taken the oath of office with his hand on the Bible.  See my essay on “Separate Church and State, Not God and State.”  For two hundred twenty-eight years it has been our moral standards that have allowed us to become the greatest nation in the history of mankind.  Yet today we see those moral standards being systemically destroyed.

Hollywood and Pay TV have glorified every ungodly act ever conceived in the minds of men.  It is almost impossible to take our children to a movie today because it either contains gross profanity, explicit sexual behavior, gory violence, or in many cases, all three.  The music coming out of Hollywood is likewise more often than not absolute filth.  Hollywood today, and most of the current stars, do not understand and will never represent the heart and soul of America.

Abortion has been a cancer on this nation since 1973 and will continue to be so as long as it is practiced.  Now these same people are pushing for embryonic stem cell research and euthanasia.  See my article on The Sanctity of Life.

The agenda of the gay community is an abomination in the eyes of God and an affront to every moral person in the land.  The very idea of same sex marriage violates and distorts one of the most sacred relationships in the human experience.  Besides being morally wrong by every objective standard, it is infested with disease, filthy conduct, early death, and suicide.  See my article on the Health Hazards in the Gay Community.

Given the above, is it any wonder that the good and moral men and women of America believe that this country is headed in the wrong direction.  I could elaborate for page after page but the above is sufficient to prove my point.

That said, who do the American people blame for the continue moral decline in our nation?  There are two areas of our government who have earned the blame for this moral decline.

The first is our judiciary system.  It is our Supreme Court and other federal judges who have usurped the rights of We the People and taken it upon themselves to misinterpret and misapply our Constitution.  The founders clearly intended that only the people could change the Constitution but these activist judges have taken this right for themselves.  They have accommodated the most vile passions of mankind, opened the door to ungodliness, and protected every kind of immoral and deviant behavior imaginably, while at the same time forbidding God a place in the public square.

The second area where the blame resides is with the minority of liberal Democratic senators who are obstructing the appoint of moral men and women who do understand the Constitution and would uphold its concepts.  As long as these senators are allowed to remain and obstruct the appointment of good men and women to the bench we will continue to see our nation declining morally.  See my Declaration of Reclamation by the People of the United States of America.

Yes, this country is definitely headed in the wrong direction morally.  Unfortunately, it is extremely difficult to remove a federal judge since their appointment is for life.  What is not at all difficult is to remove the senators who are obstructing the appointment of good and moral men and women to the judicial benches.

This We the People can do with the power of the ballot box.  Each of us needs to find out if one of these obstructionist represent our state and, if so, vote him or her out of office.  We might not get them all but if we get enough the rest will sit up and take notice.  If every good and moral person in this nation would go to the polls and vote these obstructionist out of office our President could then replace these unfit judges with men and women who could, in a very few years, change the moral direction of the nation.

President Bush has shown his concern for the morality of this nation by nominating moral men and women.  He cannot do more until he has the support of We the People.  It is not enough to elect our president, we must at the same time oppose obstructionist senators.

May God give us the wisdom and desire to do so and my He bless our president and continue to bless our nation.
