IT’S THE SUPREME COURT, STUPID Wayne D. Leeper
It is the Supreme Court, not the President who determines the level of national morality, the rights and freedoms of Americans, the direction of our nation, and the conditions under which our children and grandchildren will live for generations to come. Well aware of this fact, our founding fathers wisely wrote into our founding documents provisions that guaranteed that it would be We the People, not the President, not the Congress, and not the Supreme Court that would determine the destiny of America. They understood that true freedom and liberty could only exist if the ultimate power rested with, and only with, the people. Therefore, they made certain that only the people could ever change a single word or phrase in our Constitution. Our Constitution is widely regarded at the greatest document ever to come from the minds of men. It is, in fact, so unique in its conception, so complete in its construction, and so enduring in its truths, that it has only been changed fifteen times since the original Bill of Rights was added to it. For generations the young warriors of America have fought, bled, and died to protect and preserve the freedoms guaranteed by our great and matchless Constitution. The life, liberty and pursuit of happiness of every citizen of the United States has been guaranteed, promoted, and protected by our Constitution. Since George Washington every President of the United States has, with his hand on the Bible, repeated the words, “I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and to the best of my ability preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.” Every Justice of the Supreme Court has sworn to “....faithfully and impartially discharge and perform all the duties incumbent on me as (title) under the Constitution and laws of the United States. So help me God.” Today Americans are faced with what is perhaps the greatest threat to our life, liberty and happiness that has ever been faced by any generation since our founding fathers penned the Declaration of Independence. The threat does not come from terrorist, outside armies, of the criminals of our land. It comes from the Supreme Court of the United States. By judicial fiat they have, and continue to, usurp the rights of We the People when it comes to our Constitution. It is the Supreme Court that has banned prayer in school, authorized the slaughter of over forty-three million unborn children and declared that homosexuals have the right to openly advocate, practice, and flaunt their ungodly lifestyle before us and our children. It is activist federal judges that have found our Pledge of Allegiance unconstitutional because it contains the words “under God,” banned the Ten Commandments from all governmental offices, and authorized changing the definition of marriage to include every form of illicit sexual behavior conceived in the minds of men. These and many other decisions that will impact our national morality, our national lifestyle and our social mores, will be brought before the Supreme Court over the next few years. There are two types of judges available to be appointed; activist and constructionist. Activist judges believe that our Constitution a “living Document,” and therefore, subject to interpretation and change depending on their opinion on any given matter at any given time. They believe that they have the power to determine the lifestyle of the American people without having to consult the people themselves. Constructionist judges, on the other hand, believe that our Constitution is a document which belongs to the people and that only the people have the right to change it. They consider themselves to be servants of the people and limited to interpreting and enforcing the constitution only as it was written by the founding fathers. They believe that their job is to enforce and protect the rights of We the People. Now We the People must make the decision that will impact the lives of our children and grandchildren for generations to come. May God give us the desire and the wisdom to make the right decision.
